We’re in the season of sharing and giving thanks. But a lot of the time, this season can also turn into being all about eating until you feel like your belt is going to sling itself right off your body and clear across the room.
One way to make sure you don’t over-thank yourself for your capacity to consume is by adding some extra fiber to your meal. Fiber helps you to feel fuller longer, so infusing a side dish with a fiber dash might help you to limit your intake during dinner – while still saving room for dessert, of course!
Try out this easy Orange Cranberry Sauce recipe, featuring the FiberLove Orange Cranberry bar, for a tasty, filling dish with less than 100 calories per serving.
FiberLove Orange Cranberry Sauce Recipe
Though cranberries weren’t part of the original Thanksgiving feast, the sauce has shown up on a whole lot of Thanksgiving tables in the years since. Luckily, it’s much easier to make this recipe than it is to make almost any other staple of the Thanksgiving feast.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 12 ounces of cranberries
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 orange
- 1 Orange Cranberry FiberLove bar
- 2/3 cup water
Here’s what to do with it:
Pour your cranberries into a medium-sized cooking pot. Add the water and sugar, and stir together.
Turn up the heat! To medium. Squeeze in the juice from your orange and stir the mixture.
The mix will boil. Stir it every once in a while. Some of the cranberries will pop. When the mix is thick and saucy (rather than watery) take it off the heat and pour it into your serving bowl.
Let your sauce cool a bit. Then break up your FiberLove Orange Cranberry bar. You can either sprinkle the bar on top and let the mixture cool and solidify more, or you can mix the pieces of FiberLove into the sauce for a more integrated consistency.
Makes 8-12 servings, depending on how much each person eats. In any case, this Orange Cranberry Sauce tastes great with turkey, tofurky, or all alone. Enjoy!
